Artist Statement

Philomena Marano and Richard Eagan formed their artistic partnership, The Coney Island Hysterical Society, over 30 years ago out of their mutual love of America's seminal, historic amusement beach.
Their most ambitious project was "Spookhouse", a collaborative effort of some twenty artists and community youth which converted a derelict Coney dark ride into a ride-through gallery in the dark.
Today their collaboration continues in diverse studio media, bringing the fantastical architecture and surreal imagery of Coney Island to life in both unique works and hand-made limited editions.
