My studio is at Screwball Spaces: an artist community with over 140 artists on the edge of Red Hook, steps from the famous food trucks.
Artist Statement
I create highly detailed graphite drawings of photographic stills that I have taken from films that interest me on multiple levels. I look for tiny moments in the films I choose where the scene's formal structure breaks down and disintegrates. When rendering these scenes, a new image is created. Straight lines become wavy, values smudge, and areas are omitted as the process for rendering these images presents its limitations. My interest is in the space that exists between my self-imposed obligation to represent the original image and my desire to create a work of art that is genuine and new.

mershimer says: I thought it was an exquisitely executed work. I saw it last year and I was equally drawn to it this year. Beautiful craftsmanship and excellent handling of material. Cohesive body of work.
brittany.brett.5 says: Beautiful what one can do with graphite, paper and a bit of inspiration.
