Artist Statement

Leaving busy Livingston Street and going upstairs to my studio, one enters an oasis devoted to the contemplative art of realist painting. On the walls are large paintings of seascapes from the Rockaway Peninsula and Fire Island. To the right are copies of works by the masters—Velazquez, Vermeer, Sargent, Sorolla. Everywhere are small works of the figure, structures at Fort Tilden and studies for larger works. Taking up most of one wall is a huge painting of gulls, sandpipers and geese in, near and over the ocean, based on my study of dioramas and their dramatic effects.

Andromache says: Gorgeous paintings, very imaginative, very special. Plus I love water!
