In all of my paintings I am searching for new ways to explore identification and to challenge the tradition of portraiture painting. I am always examining how we identify ourselves and how others identify us. I try to find those overlooked ideas of portraiture that are hiding in plain sight. My investigations of portraiture and identity have led me from a series of portraits of hands, to the insides of mouths, to feet, to masks and their owners and currently to portriats that incorporate ideas of self identifiaction from the models themselves throught the use of questionnaires, interviews and signlanguage.
