Artist Statement

My work utilizes sculpture, photography, and painting. I create wearable sculptures that are like armor or exoskeletons. Then I photograph performers wearing these sculptures and acting out scenarios of power, the medical body, and animalia. I silkscreen these photos onto canvas and paint over sections with oil paint. I paint to recover information that was clear in the original photo but was then lost. I am setting up a process that creates and then destroys information about an event, and I am questioning whether information once lost can ever be reliably reconstructed.
