Artist Statement

Through color, light, movement, and through the exploration of negative and positive space, I investigate the dynamic balance between what is known and what is mysterious. Through cut paper I speak to the idea that negative spaces are infused with meaning .The process is subtractive so I have to think a few steps ahead. The simplicity, flexibility and strength of paper enables me to transform this material into work with a limitless range of expression. Passionate about painting, I try to communicate the underlying mood of the subject through the gesture, color and the sensuality of paint.
