Artist Statement

The Homeless Memorial is a mixed media installation project responding to a trolley tour of the monuments and memorials of Washington, DC, along with its endemic homeless population. The installation re-enacts the eleven stops along an existing trolley route in DC while proposing a twelfth stop: The Homeless Memorial.

Flattened refrigerator boxes are the sub-structure for the eleven environments. Contextual imagery consists of crayon rubbings, drawings, painting, and photographs.

The eleven homeless figures are collagraph plates printed on various surfaces. They will be printed on metal, cut and arranged into the sculptural Homeless Memorial, fashioned with wheels for easy moving.
