Artist Statement

I create large (15x10 foot, 13x7 foot, etc.) vividly detailed cityscapes on paper with color pencils and oil pastels. The landscape is clearly somewhere in the northeastern United States. It looks like a city, a neighborhood that you've been too, lived in, experienced. But if you ask "where is this?" (as people often do), the answer is-it isn't anywhere you've ever been. This city I'm creating is fictional. This has given me the freedom to create my own world that expresses the unique character and flavor of that part of the world where I've lived most of my life.
