My latest work considers the balance between the permanent and temporary elements of architecture in the city: Weighing the utilitarian exteriors, an element that is out of the average person's control, versus the fragile and temporary interior spaces. Using building materials and dense, detailed patterning in addition to casting, joinery and weaving. The result are miniaturized abstractions of commercial masonry and cabinetmaking. Patterns play a significant role in the work, emphasizing the exterior of a structure, or complimenting the fantasy of an abstract interior.
