Artist Statement

Sometimes, beauty is omnipresent. (stress: sometimes) Utilizing oil paint I eliminate the ideology of surface beauty in order to highlight the spirit of the subject matter. The subject matter is not restricted to an anatomical form or figure. I paint from memory or imagination.

The concentration is placed on the sensitivity and beauty of human sentiment. The emotion emitted through the layers of paint, the use of color, and gesticulation of form is more valuable to me than the realistic perception. I am not trying to paint a photograph.

(cough cough).
