Artist Statement

In the last few years, my work has been based on circular and organic shapes and forms as starting points for my paintings and drawings. The shapes allude to micro as well as macro forms - cells and atoms as well as planetary bodies. I repeat and place these shapes with care on the painting surface, in a kind of meditative working process, while paying attention to the interplay and interaction of color and space, and figure and ground. The paintings are complete when I arrive at surprising and discovered compositions that follow an internal logic.
