Artist Statement

I am interested in transformation. My intent is to create spaces where the viewer becomes the subject. My palette comes from the changing hues of the sky and its effects on mood and structure. The stark environment evokes a sense of isolation that provides the viewer permission to reflect without judgment.

My paintings present subjects devoid of sentiment. Light creates a blue, harsh luminosity that reveals the rough and uneven texture of surfaces. Darkness creates the hiding space of the observer. All that remains is the decaying architecture that disappears without notice, the empty streets and amplified silence.
