Artist Statement

In my most recent body of work, I have tapped into a bold playfulness and experimental approach through the medium of collage.These works explore the themes of cultural and sexual identity through a fragmented narrative portrayed through the lens of childhood. I employ color printouts of various aspects of my completed paintings and drawings and collage them with paint, pen and ink, fabric swatches and wallpaper to re-contextualize the old into something new, revealing antiquity with a surrealist sensibility. The small sizes of the collages requires and rewards viewing at the most intimate range, revealing details of itself over time
