Artist Statement

I am interested in things that grow without intervention, that emanate from an internal logic.
My work is made from the accumulation of single drops of ink onto paper. An apparatus meters out the ink using industrial pumps, electronic timers and switches. This machinery runs automatically, 24 hours a day, usually for many months with a minimum of my own intervention. I begin this process and then step back to observe the course of its development. This simple mechanical repetition, allows the material to follow its own course; controlled only by the limits of its own physicality.
