Artist Statement

I am neither a pattern/decoration painter or a traditional landscape painter. I look at my surroundings for inspiration and see the rhythms that emerge.

Inspiration for my paintings are eclectic.
Including: pattern in nature, as well as in tapestry and weaving; the alchemy of color; the parallel languages of poetry and music, the gestural movements of the body and brush in the act of painting.

My paintings exist between languages of abstraction and representation of experiences.

After all is said, the reason I paint is not to express my influences, but to paint through and beyond them.
