Artist Statement

Working between genres, I explore process, fleeting moments, fragility, impermanence, fragments, layers and found objects through transformation of materials. I am interested in the relationship between machine produced and hand re-made. Using sterile objects such as spools of thread, zippers or cash register tape rolls, I subvert the original functions of these items through employing various methods of cutting, drilling and stapling in the hopes of drawing more attention to their physical attributes, which can be overlooked in our everyday settings. These once previously static and sterile objects become more activated and gain more character.

The Guestbook

marget says: Incredibly unique and expressive. Use of ordinary objects manipulated into colorful and distintive pieces that make you think about, and examine their composition. Very thought provoking. The Zipper piece is magnificant but I most enjoyed the drilled pieces.
