Artist Statement

Paintings wishing they were sculptures, photographs wishing they were paintings, bodysuits made of lace and rope, and foreign money- my studio is full of pieces in between mediums. Life size luan painted cutout figures that I drove to New Orleans and shot installed in a swimming pool, feature prominently, alongside underwater photos of those pieces submerged. Currently I am assembling altars and coffins for these interactive figures to rest, and upholstering frames for each of them. I enjoy feeling immersed in rotting textures, gold leafing and making dense nests of patterned fiber.
